Green machine

The Accord Group has worked as Oxfordshire County Council's highway maintenance provider since 2000. They work with clients and suppliers to find new ways to "design-in" sustainability, and reduce their carbon footprint. Converted by Regenatec their new 18 tonne DAF gully emptier runs on pure plant oil bio-fuel and by using this vehicle they expect to save at least 10 tonnes of carbon waste in the first year. In tests by the governments Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) the free acceleration smoke (FAS) limit for the vehicle has shown to be less than 0.05 per metre whereas the average for this type of vehicle is 2.8 per metre.
